In the UK alone there are 500 deaths each year because of fires, another 11'000 people suffer from serious injury due to it which can mean their lives are so seriously handicapped that they never return to their normal selves. A lot of these fires could be prevented and if not the amount of people who are killed or injured could be reduced if they had a fire alarm fitted. The fire alarms UK has to offer will make sure that everyone is given the chance to escape no matter the level of noise in the establishment.

The kind of alarm you wish to have fitted will be dependant on a lot of things, the first being the overall size of the area you need to cover, as well as if your establishment is on more than one floor and of course the shape of the building. This is because knowing this will mean that everyone can easily hear above any other noise that there is danger and know that they need to evacuate and assemble at the fire point. You need to also make sure that there are places called call points and that they are accessible to everyone.

You will have seen call points before, they are basically a way that you alert others if you have found a fire. They are usually red with a breakable glass panel on the front, this enables them to be set off easily by whom ever notices the danger.

The alarms are available to ring at different levels, this means that they can warn everyone in the noisiest of buildings and means that everyone will take notice. The alarm sounds can also vary from electrical sirens to the old fashioned type, but you need to assess which are the best to use in your establishment for the safety of all. For those who cannot hear at all there are alternatives, in the way of lights flashing so that even when working alone they too realize there is a danger. You should check the decibels of noise created in all parts of the building on one of the busiest days to ensure you have the right level.

65 to 75 decibels is the minimum level that the alarm should sound at if it is to be in an establishment where people will be sleeping. This is so that they can be woken in time to make their escape and alert the authorities if needed.

Thinking back to how many people lose their lives or are injured seriously due to fire, imagine how many of these would still be here and healthy today if they could have been informed of the danger before it got too far. Not only the people within the building imagine the amount of time and money you will lose should your establishment catch fire, and it tears through the whole building. You will with a fire alarm find that the damage will be a lot less than without which means that your insurance premiums will also go down and in the event of a fire the damage will be minimal.

Even if a relatively small fire breaks out you will find that if alerted in time it can be dealt with quickly to avoid further damage. It will also mean that if you are trying to fight the fire alone with an extinguisher you will be able to get extra help or get someone to take over if it all gets too much. This is important and will also mean that everyone can be lead to the fire point so that it can be assessed is anyone is still within the building.
